Optical frequency comb (OFC) as a powerful tool to link the radio frequency and optical frequency, has been widely used in many areas of metrology. Two physics John L. Hall and Theodor W. Hänsch won the Physics Nobel prize in 2005, due to their contributions to the development of laser-based precision spectroscopy and the OFC technique. With the rapid development of OFC in the past 10 years, some significant progresses have been achieved in optical atomic clock, ultralow noise microwave generation and time/frequency dissemination. In this talk, I will introduce the OFC techniques, and demonstrate the latest advances in the areas of optical atomic clock, ultralow noise microwave generation and time/frequency dissemination. Furthermore, the state-of-art experimental results will also be illustrated in this talk. Finally, I will conclude my talk with some outlooks. |
